I have had this compressor for a little under a year now. I bought mine new (not remanufactured) at Home Depot for around $280 with tax. So far so good. I am a general contractor so we use this compressor daily. It IS a heavy s.o.b., but not so heavy that one person cannot pick it up and load it on a truck or move it. It is compact so the weight is not unwieldy.I am slowly but surely replacing ALL of my tools with Ridgid. They have the best warranty around and everything that I have made by Ridgid seems to last longer and perform better. Ridgid, if you are reading this--keep up the good work. It will pay off in customer loyalty over time. I have a box full of broken Dewalt tools that I keep around thinking I might have them fixed one day or use them for parts... but all my Ridgid stuff still works. (Well, I just had a battery charger fail on my 12 v Ridgid drill at 35 months into a 36 yr warranty... Took it in to local service center & they replaced the charger AND both batteries--free of charge. That's amazing. And the drill--which gets a LOT of use--still works perfectly--so I'm hoping I'm good to go for another 3 yrs.So, If I was a light user of compressors I mi
ght not choose this one simply because it is heavy duty and a bit loud. But for an every day contractor you could do a lot worse.
O.K., the compressor works pretty good but is it a 4.9SCFM @ 90psi or 6.2SCFM @ 90psi? The label on the one at the Home Despot says 6.2 and mine says 4.9 The literature says both depending on where you look. It is suffering from a real identity crisis. Two things, first it is too damn heavy to be toting around. It shoulda had wheels on it. Second, it is louder than a roomfull of screaming babies. So, strap it to a dolly and get some earplugs and you'll be happy.
The overall quality of the unit is very good.It seems to deliver the advertised air rating.Maintenance is extremely easy due to the oil free nature of this compressor. The only complaint I have is the noise level of the unit which seems to be significantly louder than the previous unit I owned.
I just purchased this Ridgid OF45150 from my local Home Depot. Retail is $259. This is a reconditioned unit and I was able to negotiage a price of $159. I will update my rating once I have used the unit. I just came here to compare prices. Given the brand recognition for this tool category, the horsepower, and dual tank capacity, I have high expectations. Will keep you posted....
