Does anybody know where I can get 8 inch wide diskettes? Yeah, I know,
they are pretty rare, but then, where there's a will, there's bound to
be a way.

Surplus stores? That's where I saw some locally about 1995 or so.

The only 8" I've owned came out of the garbage of a church a couple of
years ago. I hadn't even known they were having a rummage sale, but
afterwards there were various items waiting for the garbage truck,
and there were a bunch of 8" floppies. They'd been used, since they
had writing on them. Made me wish I'd been at the sale, since if
they had those who knows what I missed.

Have you done any websearches, or contacted big computer accesory or
stationary type places? They might be able to special order, at the
very least, if you were desperate enough.

There's a blast from the past! I used to be the Kermit 8"
distribution source... 8*) Anyway, googling for "8inch floppy disks"
turns up three hits on the first page:

http://www.athana.com/html/diskette.html
http://www.totalmedia.com/catalog/catalog_home.asp?CatID=1764&OID=-1&CID=&bustype=01
and a teaser to http://www.floppydisks.com/index.html but no 8"
floppies.

We used to have a bunch of them lying around in some obscure cupboard,
both the single and double density. They were for the ol' IBM
displaywriters, which had the "toaster" on the side, as the ladies used
to call them. ;-)

Do you know if they ever used 8 inch diskettes in Eastern Europe?

Maybe there's a source overseas?

Hi,

Try IBM. They used to sell them not too long ago.

To reply, replace "T" with "u", twice.
