Remove back of monitor?

I want to make some internal adjustments to an Acer 7156E monitor.

Is there any chance anyone out there can tell me how to get the back
off of this bloody thing?

I've removed the two screws from the back along the bottom of the
unit, but the top edge of the back seems to remain firmly attached to
the front frame. I've tried pressing the parts in every direction I
can thing of, but the back refuses to come off.

Thanks for any help...

There's probably some latches in the vents along the top that you can push
in. What adjustments do you wish to make? If the problem happened suddenly
then there's no adjustment that will fix it. Unless it wasn't well tuned to
begin with, there probably isn't much you can do.

sorry dont know the monitor
but sometimes , there are screws hidden behind
the sticky labels , use your finger
to press hard on the labels
if they dinge in , then they may well be a screw behind it .

but normally therre are about 4 screws holding a back on
or at least 2 and 2 clips , normally the push type

---
if you can open it a little try shining a torch down the open bit
and try to see what is holding it / or where it is being held

cheers

Sometimes monitors have a clip-in cover on each side near the top that
covers a screw.

Latches: yes, that's what I thought also. But I've pressed both the
back itself and the plastic frame surrounding the CRT in every way I
can think of...the sucker just refuses to detach. When the bottom
screws are out, the back does seem to pivot up a bit, hinging along
that top edge, but it'll only pivot so far before the bottom of the
back hits the internal PC board on the bottom. It must detach along
it's top somehow, but I can't get that to happen.

Adjustment: this monitor has seen many hours of use. It's still
produces a crisp picture, but it's brightness is greatly reduced (full
brightness gives you a rather dim picture.) I've had success before
with this by adjusting the G2 bias on the picture tube. I'm hoping I
can make that adjustment to get a little more brightness out of the
thing, while still keeping it reasonable sharp and in focus.

Thanks very much for your reply.

No clips are visible. Just the two screws along the bottom. A torch,
you say? Well, that'll certainly put an end to my problem!

Unfortunately even though the back will pivot just a bit with the
bottom 2 screws out, I can't make enough room to peek in there with a
penlight, just isn't enough room.

Thanks very much for helping...

Look closely, I fixed an NEC for someone at work a couple weeks ago and was
having the same issue getting the back off. I noticed that the top was
perforated with indentations that matched the vent holes further back, and
finally noticed that 3 of the indentations along the edge were very slightly
deeper and were in fact holes that I could push in with ballpoint pens to
release the clips. I worked on a Nokia monitor once that was equally
difficult to open. Why they can't just use normal screws is beyond me.

Some monitors only have 2 screws on the bottom and an open hinge on the
top. Simply remove the screws and swing the bottom up and off. The best!

Got it off! Two very persistent clips along top edge of back, had to
twist the thing three different ways at once...thank you all.
