reg the symbol "|" in layout-xl

Hi all ,
whenever we port designs from schematic to layout-xl, we get the
symbol "|" before the instance name.
Why is the symbol coming by default in the front of all the instance
name?
Is there any way to remove it(either by script or through some changes
in the setting )?

No, there is noway to remove this. In fact this MUST stay for
consistently representing the schematic hierarchy in you layout.

HI Riad,
Thanks for the link. I understood the usefulness of the symbol(which
is mainly for preserving the hierarchical info ). But say,
If we just interested in a flattened layout then I guess its ok to
delete the Symbol.
Have i got it right?.

Hi Lokesh,

Why do you want to delete this symbol, it is harmless ?
You can alter the instance name in the layout-XL context, either from
the Edit Properties GUI or from skill using instId~>name="newName".
But whenever you check your layout against schematic, VXL would report
errors related to missing instances and instance mismatch. Thus, when
you update your layout, VXL would bring back those old devices into
the layout. This is very messy !

so DO NOT change these names unless you are looking for hassle !

Actually RIAD,
I was trying to get the name of certain instances in my layout using
"rexCompile" command. And during that i felt it little bit weird to
include the symbol "|"(mainly because i didnt know about the use of "\
\" initially). Anyway i have now done the required stuff.
