reg MARK NET option in layout

Dear all,
In a new technology, I'm trying to see the connectivity information(by
using 'Mark Net' option) in a big layout. But I get the following
error in the CIW window.

*WARNING* metal layers or via layers are not specified.

Any idea what might be the error. I'm pretty sure it is some 'set up /
Installation' error in the new technology.

Thanks and regards,
lokesh rajendran.

Hi Lokesh,

this is from the Layout Edit User Guide (5.1.41):

"Your technology file must list the interconnect layers in the Layer
Definitions class and define viaLayers subclass rules in the Layer
Rules class. If it does not, Mark Net does not work. The Technology
File and Display Resource File User Guide describes how to create and
edit a technology file."

Marc
