refrigerator thermoStat -- byPass risk

hello,
inglis "citation" refrigerator Y.E.A.R.S. old
broke (no fan etc) last night
a repair technician diagnosed the thermostat and initially put it back
but wasn't sure it would keep working so when it did not, i put the
byPass (2 connected black plugs that the orange and the red leads from
the thermostat (that i removed) fit into)
it *may* freeze everything (i was told by the technician) and i'm
wondering if i have a wristBand (for pcs) and hook it onto the door of
the fridge whether it would be dangerous to unHook 1 of the byPass leads
to let it heat up a bit....
(btw he did this with the power on -- problem the power cord is far far
far behind things and it's a real "chore" to get to it)
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
happy Holidays

Tanya.....
yea.... it would be VERY dangerous. Why not get a replacement thermostat
installed? ..... or at the very least you can have a switch installed so
you can safely turn it on and off...... or hook the fridge up to an
extension cord so you can easily plug it in or unplug it...... or, you might
consider getting a new refrigerator that works properly and that will keep
your food at a constant and safe storage temperature..

Your statement demonstrates that you have a severe lack of understanding of
electricity.

In that scenario a grounding strap will do more harm than good.

You made it run, while that in itself isn't all that dangerous, What is
dangerous is screwing with mains wires when they are live.

Realistically, leave the wires alone, get an extension cord so you can act as a
human thermostat. Never mess with that stuff while it's plugged in !

hi and thanks for replying!
thanks for the warning!
they don't have the part for several days...(this is just temporary)
but the extension cord is no problem (i'm just lazy:)
Best wishes for the Holidays!
sincerely

you could also flip the breaker on and off, as most fridges have their
own circuit
