can someone tell me if it is possible to get magnetic reed switches,

one activated by waving an N pole magnet over the top of it
the other activated by waving an S pole magnet over the top of it

but one should not affect the other

if yes where can i get them from in the UK

thanks in advance

I can imagine a setup with two reedswitches, where each switch has a small
magnet glued to it, one with the N pole, the other with the S pole. Both
switches are closed now. When you approach with a similar magnet, one switch
should open because the field of the approaching magnet should a a point
cancel the field from the glued-on magnet. But is is all dependent on fields
cancelling eachother, which could be tricky. The easiest way is to use a
hall-sensor.
