Those Chinese 6in digital calipers used to be $69 everywhere. They're
the steel ones with 0.0005" display. Harbor freight tools had them
for $39 for awhile... Good Lord! (choke!) I just noticed that Harbor
Freight has them on sale for half price! They're still $60 over at
Jameco. Damn. I already bought a cheap plastic version a few months
back.
$19.99 Cen-tech 6" digital caliper

If you really want cutting edge product with 0.0001" display and serial
comm jack for PC interface, get an expensive one. The above device is
exactly the same as the 'good calipers' that the people in the lab were
always fighting over, back in 1992 when I was at Eaton Photocontrols
PS
If you want to experiment with night vision scopes, Harbor Freight
has a cheap Russian one for $70
$69.99 2.4X scope w/illuminator

Sounds like I'm an ad copy writer for Harbor Freight. Maybe I should
call them up and ask for kickbacks.
Also, right now I'm
looking for a cordless screwdriver. The decent ones are like $120.
Harbor Freight has one for $16. Has anyone here bought one of these?
I mean, are they total crap? They certainly won't be like Makita or
anything. But are they worth even the $16?
