I have an RCA VR676HF VCR which is not working properly. It is about
10 years old.
Several months ago, when AC power failed and was restored, the unit
did not power up and appeared dead. I did the obvious - pull cover &
check AC line fuse. It was found okay. Power supply is SMPS.
After about 20 minutes, the unit came back on in standby mode (display
on and power indicates okay. I powered up into ON mode without any
problems.
The VCR continued to exhibit the same problem on all subsequent loss
of AC - need to wait about 25 minutes before unit "wakes up" and power
indication is present. I could live with this minor inconvenience.
Now, when the unit rewinds a tape or fast forwards and reaches near
end of tape, it powers off and appears dead. Unplugging it and
plugging it back in allows it to once again power up in about 25 mins.
If the AC cord is not removed and power cycled, the unit does not
"wake up" again.
Any ideas what may be causing this??
Thanks in advance for any help.
