RCA problem

I have a RCA model F27442 with a CTC203AD5 chassis. The problem is the
unit had been on and it went out and the power relay just cycles on and
off, it acts as if something is pulling too much current and then it
kicks it off. When it first comes on it does have high voltage, but I
don`t know how long it lasts before the relay kicks off. I checked the
HOT and it was fine, but I took it out and turned the set on and it came
on with sound and stayed on with no problem. I seem to be reading a lot
about this model needing to have the horizonal drive path resoldered. I
was wondering if anybody has run into this or might have some solutions?
Thanks, Rob

L14101 at base of h output, pull off pcb, clean glue from leads and pads,
reinstall, order new h output and flyback. Should cure your problem. Good
luck

Rob, I had a CTC203 in for repair with a simular problem. I fixed it by
removing the power supply transformer and reflowing the solder where the
transformer leads wrap around the posts.
Good Luck.

Get tv unplugged NOW, and get it fixed promptly. This is reason to
save the switching power supply from any abuse and also to prevent
horizontal clobbered by dirty horizontal pulses through the bad solder
on the L14401. Glue cracks that solder joint.

Whoops this should be L14401, remove it and remove all glue on both
coil and the circuit board where coil sits including the one hole that
lead goes through, reinstall coil and do usual job.

Also if this TV has a F2PIP module (pip w/ A/V ports card), look at
the 3.3V regulator SMD resistors voltage programming isn't solder
cracked, I had this twice on seperate sets. Causes CTC203 chassis to
have 3 strikes (relay clicks 3 times) and out thing due to F2PIP is
jamming the I2C bus because of unstable 3.3V for this big F2PIP IC.
3.3V regulator is mounted on small steel heatsink on one corner of
this F2PIP module.

Cheers,

Wizard

Thanks to everyone who helped me on this problem, it turned out to be
the small coil at the base of HOT. I resoldered it and everything
started working! Thanks so much! Rob

Make sure you take the guys advice and remove the coil and clean the glue off
of it, or your problem will come back.
