popping sound from rear of set, and picture will diappear for a second
or two at same time of popping. problem just started one day... also
pops sometimes when powering off the set. sounds like a baloon
popping. thanks for the help.

Possible arcing at the LOPT, also: has L14401 been removed, cleaned, and
properly resoldered in the base circuit of Q14401?

L14401 doesn't make that kind of "SNAP!" noise, flyblack has a
pinhole snapping out sparks to nearby ground. That's BAD get it
unplugged NOW and take it in for repair.

Wiz: ?? Is not that what I first stated in my post?? But the coil will also
require proper and competent repair at it's terminal connections Thx A/J.

I knew these L14401 thing, except the owner didn't provide important
clue: good audio, no picture symptom. Popping usually happens when
audio is suddenly cut off in mid-action and is part of overall
problem.

Thanks for correction.

Yeah it is L14401 for sure if customer says it has good audio with no
picture.

Every one I seen, usually I don't hear a nice crisp POP! when picture
went out on CTC203, might be too soft "pop".

Oh by the way, in many TVs if speakers is doing this "POP!" for any
reason have to gonna looked at asap because this is annoying and good
way to fry speakers or possible blow a HOT. I had this happen in one
TV recently, replaced blown HOT and heard a POP! every time channel
was changed. This was a bad jungle dropping horizontal freq output
for a instant during channel change causing flyback secondary to kick
out a notch in power source for the audio amp. Was interesting fault.
