I have a RCA-TV ctc 169 that will not power up. It tries to turn on but
shut down. If I heat the 2.7 ohm resistor on the input power supply the
set will come and stay on but after it cools off the set will not stay
on. I have checked this resistor and it is ok. I have re soldier
most of the connections in power supply area but no help. It looks like
it thinks something is wrong with the power and will not come on. I
don't have schematic so I am not to sure where to look. Any ideas?

There are most likely some caps in the area that you are heating that have
to be replaced. They may be high in ESR, and start to work a bit when warm.
Do an ESR test on all the caps in the supply when it is cold, and you will
most likely find the defective ones. After replacement, the set should work
again, unless there are some other faults.
