RCA 56" Projection P56812BL - No picture - only Red/Green/Bl

Over the past few weeks my RCA projection TV has had problems.

It started as thin horizontal lines across the screen with the picture
squished down to the bottom third of the screen and a mirrored image
on the top third of the screen. After about 10 to 15 minutes, the two
images would converge and then the picture would be OK.

This weekend (in the middle of a football game), the picture went
black and there are three single lines across the screen (red, green,
blue) that are slightly arched upward.

I have unplugged the TV from power overnight hoping it would reset,
but no luck.

Any ideas on what this could be ?

Is this something I could fix myself ? I have dabbled in repairs
before and am not afraid to try. I'm proficient in computer repairs,
but have never tried to repair a TV.

Otherwise, what type of repair cost should I be expecting ?

take it to an authorized service center. TVs are WAY WAY more complicated
than computer repairs are.

but anyway, if you must know:

The problem is in the vertical output circuit.

check the area for bad solder joints, and check the output transistors for
shorts. replace any caps high in ESR.

If you lack the skills necessary, or lack the proper equipment, then send it
in to service. because you risk destroying it. Belive me, I've been there,
and dont want to go back there.
