No Spam Here - Joe Schmo

Guest
On occasion, there are folks looking for parts in here. IF one were to have
some parts to part with, is it ok to advertise them in here? I'm not talking
like a daily basis, just a listing now and then. Never seen the FAQ on this
group.

No, this isn't an advertising newsgroup. None of the sci.electronics.*
hierarchy is.

When sci.electronics was split back in 1994 or so, a newsgroup was created
for the purpose of buying and selling, misc.industry.electronics.marketplace

There is also rec.radio.swap though I hear it can be quite busy, and what
is sold there goes all over the place.

Note that when people ask about parts here, they usually are asking where
to get them, not asking who has them.

Read Mark Zenier's guide to the hierarchy at
ftp://ftp.eskimo.com/u/m/mzenier/seguide9706.txt

He had a lot to do with the subdivision of the hierarchy.

It's a discussion group, so posting commercial adverts is considered
extremely rude. But nickel and dime personal stuff on occasion seems to
be tolerated.

I was referring to the latter, but not so sure I'll even go that route given
the 50/50 answers I got. Sure don't want to tick anyone off. I enjoy coming
in here.
Will use the Radio.Swap for my venue. I just thought being a "components"
group, especially with the posts relating to many outdated parts as I've
seen, it may be ok, if one were to have some of those parts laying around.

Can you put them on a web page, Joe? Then advertise, from time
to time, the site here.
