Question :- Oven device for reheating a pc motherboard for d

Sorry for the poor description , i was talking to a friend the other day and
he was explaining , theres a oven type device that is used in the
electronics industry that is used for fixing mother boards in general , as a
lot of them require to be reheated for dry joints etc.

Does anyone know the name of one of these ovens , i'd of thought it would
melt all the plastic parts , as its bound to heat up so much that it would
melt them ?


Does anyone have any links to such a device and typical cost .

 

The process is known as reflow, a reflow overn is used to melt solder
paste, the processes is carefully controlled, as you cant just blast
the components with lots of heat and then cool then down.... The
temperature is controlled though phases. The processes is used
normally on a convery belt or in expensive termeperature controlled
overns that are programmable. The processes is determined by the
thermal tolerances of the components being used on a board. Do a
google on reflow and SMT, You should find some interesting stuff.....
Btw some people have used this process using a toaster overn!, but you
would need to check the details for the components your using and
controll the temperature over time, its like a sequence, warming up,
baking, cooling down etc... There are names for the phases and
technical details for them... Google away and find out more.

It can be an issue.

You have to check the spec sheets for the parts.

They don't come cheap.

Delivery times can be another issue.
