Question about off the self "Plasma Globes"

The other day I was at the local thrift store and found in the
electronic stuff the base unit for a plasma globe. I got it for 25
cents. At home I took it apart and looked over the Eletronic past ,all
seamed to be good. I was wondering if it was possible use the part
from the unit to make a JACOBS LADDER. From what I have seen on the
net the eletronic component are the same. Both need a flyback
transformer and a couple power tranistors. The rest of the compments
that are on the board of the Palsa Glode seem to be for a osolater to
vary the freq. of the voltage. This I have seen in so schematic for a
"climding spark". In my opionin It should work. Shouldn't it??

Making a "violet wand" might be more fun. ;-)

What's that Lassie? You say that B Ghostrider fell down the old
sci.electronics.basics mine and will die if we don't mount a rescue by

Go to the local dump, or to the back lot of the local oil heat service
place. Get the ignition transformer from a scrapped oil burner. It
will put out about 10kV ac. from 110vac.

Be careful.
