Question about a alternator and starter motor

Hi,

How much current is output from a car alternator to charge a battery?
Also how much current does a starter motor need to start?

The alternator will output enough current to hold the battery voltage at
about 13.8volts. If the battery is not needing a charge then the alternator
will supply enough power for the equipment in use, maximum available current
varies from each alternator model/make etc but for your average small car
thing 35 to 50 amps.

Same thing with starters, probably a small car would take 150 to 200 amps
dependant on conditions (starting cold vs hot etc) and battery condition.

Depends on the alternator. Usually the specification for the alternator

will either appear somewhere on the alternator itself but more likely in the
car specifications. For small cars the alternator maximum capacity is
likely to be under 60A, whereas larger vehicles the capacity is most likely
to be higher than this.

Also how much current does a starter motor need to start?
At the initial cranking, the current could be hundreds of Amperes. Once the

starter motor has started to spin up, the current generally drops.

hi, i`m not sure on the amps to charge battery, i think it would depend on
the regulator setup.
the starter would draw about 150 to 250 am,ps maybe more , that also
depends on the construction of the starter.
