Q: How to clean AC?

Hi!

I have an old refrigerator producing quite a lot of high-voltage impulses
while turning on the pump. I don't want to buy a new one right now, because
I don't know how long I will stay here. So, in the meantime I need to
protect my other equipment from any potential damage, which means adding a
filter between the fridge and the power outlet. Can anybody recommend a
simple circuit?

(Yes, yes, I googled, but didn't find anything useful)

Thanks in advance!

Ron

This was my first hit at http://www.google.com on "emi filters":

Thanks! I googled with "AC cleaning filter" or something like that. Your
suggestion is of course better.

Would be more work: separate protection for PC, TV, radio etc. Thanks
anyway.

Sounds like an excellent idea. I'll check the local whiteware shop and see
if they've seen such a device.

On the other hand it surprises me that nobody came up with a schematics of
such a device. One would expect it to be a rather standard solution for
people with the know-how. I am just a perpetual novice with a huge
fascination for electronics.

Thanks!

try:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=line+filter+schematic

This is really clever! I tried all kind of different combinations of AC,
cleaning, circuit etc. without significant result. Your search terms indeed
gave a usable result straight away!

THANKS!

Why not use surge protection on the equipment you want to protect.......

Why not use surge protection at the source?
