PXF for VCO PSRR measurement

I am trying to setup PXF analysis to measure PSRR of a VCO. Cadence
Appnote "Power Supply Rejection Ratio Characterization Using pectreRF
Autonomous Circuits " states that
modulated conversion should be used - what is modulation here & how
does it work ?

I am also not clear about Input & Output Modulated Harmonic List
selections & why in case of modulated PXF analysis, maximum sideband
is not that important - as the Appnote states.

Please help...
