This unit came in for no audio. I found on ic1913
power amp there was no 14 volts on pin 3. in the
ditigatal circut found shorted surface mount trans
shorted. removed transistor. the l4 volts came up to
pin 3. now when adjusting audio it pops and have
max volume at low volume adjust replaced volume
control ic still same problem anyone seen this
problem i can use some help.

So you mean you removed the transistor and did not replace it?

#1 cause of no audio on a ctc179 simply requires hooking up Chipper Checker
and reinitializing the eeprom.

Agreed, replace the transistor with a known good device, replace the audio
output if necessary, connect C/C and check out the set. I have seen a few
with the amp actually blown but it is rare.

Try this little trick...

Checking U1503(3), the switch, tone, balance, volume controller we found it to
be 1.9 volts. This is supposed to be "0" Grounding the pin with a 100 ohm
resistor restored the audio. The tech needs to initialize the EEPROM to
correct this problem.
