Hi NG,
I am not experienced and installed the demo of Protel DXP.

My laaout has been routed with the message "roiting finished, 0 unrouted"
or something like this.
For me this was the signal that anything is o.k.

After inspecting the generated layouts, I found at least two connections
that were positioned at the same place on the top layer generating a short
circuit.

These 2 connections have the some piece of copper over a distance of about
2 cm.

I don't think that is caused by bad print quality and "optimistic" clearance
parameter, because all other parts of the layout is o.k.

So I routed the layout again and found the same problemm again - at another
place.

The message window said something about "contentions".

is there any way to avoid such mistakes ?

Use better software?

The "SITUS" autorouter in DXP will allow itself to build in contentions -
conflicts - with the idea that it may be able to clean them up in a later
pass. It often will complete 100% routing with a few of these remaining.
You can set the design rules to prevent this by weighting zero contentions
higher than 100% completion.

Is there any place to get a list of these catastrophical mistakes ?

Where Can I find this rule ? "allow short circuit" ?
