Projection TV digital convergance

I have some background converging a tv-I did it for a friend last
summer. He had a tv from the early 90s with pots for each of the
colors. I am now working on a tv from the late 90s that has digital
convergance via an OSD. It is a philips magnavox 115298 0001 which
has a PTV800 ah01 chasis. In the service menu, there are general
convergance settings for all the colors, but not individual colors,
short of red & blue horizontal and vertical. I changed the coolant
and no have a major convergance problem. I assume I have to use the
magnetic rings on the tubes to fix the convergance, but I have always
tried to stay away from those on previous tv projects and have no idea
how to properly use them. I have heard about using string and
disconnecting the convergance coils. I don't have the service manual
and really don't want to buy it if I can avoid it. I'm a poor college
kid who is REALLY straped for cash at the moment and this is not my
big screen.
Could someone please give the procedure for full convergance including
adjusting the magnetic centering rings? I've looked a lot, and can
only find general guidelines.

Turn set on, key in 062597Menu and follow the onscreen prompts, READ
EVERYTHING! before doing anything. Philips convergence circuits are pretty
robust, rarely giving trouble, aside from an occasional micro controller
failure.

What btvfixer said.

Additionally, you're going to like this setup, it's cursor based, no Hlin, skew
and all that. Also read everything, there is a procedure for saving the
settings and if you don't do it you'll have wasted your time. IIRC it's a
numbered line in one of the menus and the screen goes blank for a partial
minute.

BTW, those rings aren't hard to use, turning them together moves the raster
around in a circle and the space between the tabs determines how big that
circle is. Also, the rings are the preffered way to get rid of an error all
over the screen, after setting the crosshairs to the center of their range. You
no longer disconnect the convergence yokes to do this. They saved a few watts
of convergence power this way.

Also if you changed green and blue coolant use the red as your reference.
