Problem with HP Laserjet 5v

Hello,

My , say, secondary printer, a HP Laserjet 5v prints "unsharp".
The prints are not garbled, but look bleached and dissolve on the rims.
Large Areas are spotted and fade partially to white.
The toner is new, heater and all operates.
I am suspicious about the actual laser-module, but can't imagine in which it
might be defective. I swapped the main PCB of the printer with the one from
my main Laserjet 5v and it showed to be operational.

As I do not neccessarily need the second printer but would like to gift it
my niece when I manage to get it back to work I would appreciate even evil
hacks as hint.

Check and make sure all the mirrors are clean, toner buildup will cause bad
print. But you may have HV problems.
