12 Months ago, I'd agree 100% with what Rod said. Things
seem to be rapidly changing though - which is to be expected
with a Labor govt. In the last few months we've been seeing
more and more people bringing their resume's into work

positions available it took us a couple of months to fill
them - we struggled to find suitable applicants. Now we are
getting a good half-dozen resumes every week, of strong
candidates, but are are considering laying off 1-2 staff

And there were no interest rate rises under the Liberal government? No
increase in inflation? No deliberate attempt to increase unemployment to
slow the economy? Don't both parties claim the RBA is not government

Maybe you can tell us exactly what Labor budget changes have had a drastic

Or is it actually far more to do with overseas events beyond either party of

A ford Fusion for what? MPG 20/29! Cripes my Toyota pickup truck gets
better than that! Obviously nobody ESPECIALLY those at GM have ANY
intention of dealing with running out of oil! They also seem to
prefer taking a backseat in the auto industry allowing other companies
to actually be number one.

Not only is there the ELECTRIC car fiasco, but there is much more as
well!

Consider the electric car. Yes, there are battery problems: Lead acid
are heavy. Ni-MH tend to discharge just sitting. and Li-Ion are very
expensive with a 5 year life. BUT, the key is that these cars run on
COAL and not OIL! That means that even though they leave something to
be desired in performance, you still get to keep driving to work every
day even when gasoline hits $100 a gallon.

Which brings up the point. Cars have various functions. Yes a nice
high performance gas car does a lot of things nicely. It has power, it
has range, it has comfort. But a great deal of driving is just going
to work daily through slow city traffic. So an electric is ideal for
that. You recharge at night and go to work each day. No wonder people
loved them. The idea of using an electric to perform ALL your driving
is dumb. But splitting out your commuting driving for electric makes
great sense.

And in the meantime, hey I'm driving a "classic" Geo metro! 45/55 mpg
(actually measured by me!) Now go look at current offerings by auto
makers! NOTHING comes close. It seems that building a Geo is sort of
like making a mummy, everyone has forgotten how to do it! Cripes, I
LOVE that little car but support from GM is nil, they have offered
NOTHING like it for years, and pretend that this "technology" doesn't
even exist! It's downright criminal!

And that's not even the limits! One could use aluminum and carbon
fiber construction to go for some "real" mileage! But instead all we
have is a huge scam and wringing of hands as if nothing can be done.
I've got it, lets all drive to work in gigantic high-profit SUVs that
GM will happily supply [and then demand a higher salary to pay for the
increased fuel costs] You want a formula for disaster? There is one
for you! And GM will support you in it.

32v 4.7a secondaries If anyone has a schematic for an adjustable power
supply with adjustable current regulation making the most of the
transformer specs I would be eternally grateful

One thing to watch for: RMS current being drawn from the transformer
exceeding the DC output current. The bigger the filter capacitor, the
worse this gets.

Assuming that you will be using an adjustable voltage regulator, you
should be OK with a few volts of filter capacitor ripple, so don't make
the filter capacitors too big.

I would not try for more than 3-4 amps of DC from a 5 amp transformer
unless the rating is for achievable DC with a "capacitor input"
rectifier/filter circuit (capacitor immediately following the rectifier,
as opposed to having a choke between the rectifier and the capacitor).

24 volts times sqr(2) is 33.9 volts. Allow loss of a couple volts in
a bridge rectifier, a couple volts minimum drop in a voltage regulator
that is doing its job well, a couple more for a current regulator, and
that is about 28 volts. Allow 4 volts ripple on a moderate filter
capacitor, and you get 24 volts.

As for a filter capacitor value: 4 volts ripple at 4 amps over the
approx. 6 milliseconds or so that the capacitor has to supply current
works out to 6,000 microfarads. I would not use more. Greater filter
capacitance makes the current waveform drawn from the transformer spikier,
which makes the RMS current drawn from the transformer greater. I might
go for 4700 microfarads and only count on drawing 3-3.5 amps DC without
overheating the transformer.
What a load of dribble...

BEWARE - with mild-moderate overloads, transformers this size can take a
couple hours to reach excessive temperature.

get the data sheets from e.g. <http://www.jaycar.com.au/images_uploaded/LM138.PDF>
or the manufacturer: <http://www.national.com/mpf/LM/LM338.html>, and just build the

If you want adjustable fold-back current limiting (to protect the devices you're
supplying as opposed to protecting the supply itself) you'll have to look a little
further, but NatSemi's website really gives all the help you could need. If you

but you don't seem willing to read them and take their advice.

F Murtz wrote private email.... responding here.

I understand what you want better now. When you say "control current",
you mean that you want your supply to act as a current source. That's
the correct term to use when searching for information on that aspect.
Current sources feign infinite impedance, voltage sources feign zero
impedance.

Most power supplies do not act in this way. It's just not what people
want from a power supply very often; and when they do, they often use
a specialised current source circuit, not one that's built into their
power supply. The CC/CV supplies that John mentions are the exception.

What people *do* want is for the power supply to detect overload conditions
and rather than just limit the current, to actually reduce the current down
to near zero. This means that for a given output current, there are two
possible output voltages; the voltage that is set on the control pot, and
the voltage that results in the circuit drawing that amount of current.

This sort of current limiting is called "foldback current limiting", and
is almost certainly what you should be building into your supply. A CC
supply does not do this, and unless used carefully will often blow things
up by delivering an excessive current *and* voltage at the same time.

That said, if you can build a new supply, you can fix the old one.
If you can't, you should buy a new one.

qualifying round consists of five questions.9. The final
round is a knock-out round, with a maximum of five open questions. There
will be a final round once a month, in which the weekly winners will be
determined. The winner will be the first individual to send in the correct
answer to the last question, or, if no individual sends in the correct
answer to this question, the individual who has the answer that is closest
to the correct answer. There is no chance involved in this. In the knock-out
final, answering a question incorrectly or after the deadline eliminates you
from the final.10. In addition to the five questions sent per
round as part of the quiz, TMG may need to send another message to request
your address and up to two messages with details about the knock-out
final.11. If there is a deadline by which an answer must be

competitions are announced on the following website: www.194060.com. Winners
are required to send a confirmation email to support@txt-services.com
stating their current postal address their full name and mobile number.
These details are checked against TMG?s records. If the confirmation email
is not received by TMG 28 days after the winner is first contacted, the
prize is deemed forfeited. Prizes cannot be issued without this email
confirmation. Prizes will only be sent to the address specified unless
otherwise indicated by the winner. Prizes returned to TMG unclaimed are
deemed forfeited and will not be reissued at a later date.16.
If for some reason beyond TMG's control, it is not possible to supply the
prize as advertised, TMG will supply a substitutable item of equal or
greater value.17. The prize is awarded within 28 days of the
closing date for the quiz.18. The subscription service
consists of six messages sent to you per month. The messages inform you of
new quizzes that begin twice per month.19. You can opt out of
the quiz and subscription service at any time. To do so, send a text message
stating "stop" to 194060. By doing this you will opt out of the quiz and

tunnetaan siis Hiirenä, joka lopulta sulautuu yhdeksi jättiläisgalaksiksi.

Loppu? Mitä sitten tapahtuukaan galaksimme mustalle aukolle, on Maa oollut
jo pitkään asuinklvoton. Suuri osa vapautuneesta energiasta on vaarallista
liikuen esim. röntgensäteinä. Elämää kantaneet planeetat ovat huuhtoutuneet
korkeaenergiseen säteilyyn, joka tuhoaa aineenvaihduntaprosessit ja elävän
kudoksen! .. ..Säteily voi olla tarpeeksi voimakasta tuhoamaan jopa KAIKEN
teknisesti edistyneimmät sivilisaatiot!.. ..Tuloksena on lopulta eloton,
kuollut systeemi. Jäljellejäävässä systeemissä on tärkein muutos enää alati
etääntyvät galaksit." (Kammottavaa nähdä miten kaikesta IAEA/STUK
salauksesta huolimatta fyysikkopiireissä tajutaan mihin vääjäämättä
ydinprosessien kumuloituminset AINA näyttää johtavan! Miksei tässäkin
esitetyn kiistattoman mekanismin kylmää totuutta haluta kertoa
siviiliydinvoimasta kansalle!? Malenkan kuorimallitotuutena antaen selkeät
viitteet siitä, että siviiliydinvoimasäteilytuottokertymissämme on
meneillään piittaamattomuushuipun kylmäkiskoinen systemaattinen kansanmurha
ydinalan sopimuspimityksin!)

Thats the one from aus.electronics the toaster repairer

Piss off! What kind of deranged lunatic are you? Stop spewing forth your
mad rantings on to us here. You need to meet a fellow here called PHIL
ALLISON. He'll sort you out. Though he is not much better than you...

We are scientists. We draw our conclusions based on evidence. You
draw your conclusions based on a book that is designed to convince
people to believe with threats and false promises. It tells you that
there is life after death, not only life but paradise but to get
there
you must believe. It tells you that if you don't believe you will go
to hell. People become convinced to believe in this way when there
is
no evidence. They are taught to hate the non-believer. They are
commanded to conquer the non-believer and the conquered non-
believer's
money and women are theirs for the taking. The Koran tells how one
fifth of all the wealth went to Muhammad as did the most beautiful
captured women and how he forced himself on the women of the people
his fanatics were murdering the same day they were murderering them.
Muhammad would not have been able to manipulate people into enslaving
others taking their money and raping their women if people thought
instead of believed and insisted on having evidence before drawing
conclusions. I suggest that you learn from the scientists and
mathematicians in this group and start doing the same.
