Power Supply Range

Hi

I have a question about the DC power supply range for LCD monitors. I
mean what is the max I can use without damaging the LCD.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 531TFT. The manual says 12V 3.0A DC. I
dont have the adapter for it, and the replacement is costly. But I
have an adapter from IBM that is 13V 3.3A

Thanks for all your help

I would not exceed about 12.5 V for this monitor. These are fairly critical,
from past experience. If you are thinking of buying one of these low cost
power supplies that are for CB radios and Cell phones, this supply is
usually about 13.8 V when measured. It is also not well regulated enough to
be safe for a TFT monitor.

The original supply for your monitor is very well regulated, and has a
safety cut-off that is designed for the monitor. Considering the cost of a
new TFT monitor, the supply is not expensive in comparison.

Any good tech would be able to modify your IBM adapter by changing one
or two resistors, assuming it is a regulated design.
