For my D-Link router, will a 5V 1A plug work in place of the 5V 3A plug?
TIA!

James

If your router requires 3A to run, then 1A is not going to be sufficient
current, the wall wart will probably drop it's output voltage, or go bang
when the router tries to chew up the available amps.

So in theory, great cost saving technique, in practise, not really a flash
move.

Are you sure it's 3A? Seems like alot of current for a small router device?

3 amps really does seem excessive for a little router that might not even
have a fan on it. There's 1000 milli -amps in an amp --- are you sure
you're reading it right?
Hmm, I just checked. It's 2.4 amps. That seems like a lot, but that's what
you need alright. Most small wall adaptors can't put that much out. Samlex
makes good, heat dissipating power supplies.
