Please help with low contrast on Sharp 27L-S180B

Seems this is the week for dogs for me. This set's OSD,blue screen and menu
look good, but the contrast is way too low and dim. I can remove pin 38 (ACL)
of signal proc loose and the set looks great. I have checked the tranny and
diodes associated with the ACL and even replaced them to no avail. I have
replaced signal proc IC and EEPROM, have tried different values with picture
settings in service mode and have made sure that customer setting were ok.
Changing screen voltage does not help, just brings in retrace.
Any ideas on this set?

I do not have any reference to this set. I would verify the performance of
the AGC, and circuit to start with. Scope out the video signal level to see
where the drop is.
