Plasma screen interference.

Greetings.
I was called in to solve an interference problem with a plasma screen.
A vcr is used as the tuner as the screen has no tuner of its own.

The 5 tv channels are o.k. but the problem is with tape playback.

Three lines can be seen on the screen and a buzz is heard through
the speakers.

I discovered that moving the vcr around inside the cabinet could
improve the problem. The only complete cure was to move the vcr about
a meter
away from the cabinet.

I also discovered placing a large piece of al-foil over the vcr could
almost cure the problem completely.

************
Would I be right in thinking the interference is actually coming from
the screen and getting into the playback circuits of the vcr?

*************
Could a ferrite core fitted over the power lead to the screen help?

*************

Thanks,
Russell Griffiths.

** Try wrapping the VCR in Mu-Metal ;-)
But wouldn't bending it reduce the effectiveness. The Mu-Metal would
probably require hydrogen annealing, something rarely done in a home shop
;-)

Russ may be able to add something here as well...

Greetings.
I can't think of anything to add.
You both seem to know more about Mu-Metal
than I do;-)
Russ.
