Plain paper OHP?

Hi all,

Sometime back, I came across a particular type of OHP which uses plain
paper instead of transparencies. The base was slim, similar size to a
USB scanner. It seemed to have some sort of digital camera on top
instead of the usual lens/mirror arrangement used to project slides. So,
when writing something on the paper, instead of just seeing the
silouhette of the hand+pen like in conventional OHPs, you would see a
real picture projection of the hand on the wall. But the OHP only
projected in black and white.

Does anybody know who makes them and where I can get more info on it?

Nope.
Seems likely to simply be a video projector and a video camera.

Probably around 1000 pounds I suspect.

Nope.
Seems likely to simply be a video projector and a video camera.

Probably around 1000 pounds I suspect.

Sounds like an epdiascope - used to project a picture of a page or other
object rather than a transparency. Haven't seen one for years; don't no
if they are still available; and no idea what they would cost.

I don't think so.
If it was, the key report of "achingly brilliantly lit paper" is missing
Not to mention the lack of a heat resistant glove while writing.

With today's projectors the size of a book and costing $800, and cameras
the size of a golf ball and costing less than $100 it'll be neither 1000
pounds avordupois or 1000 pounds sterling -- although it'll be much
closer to 1000 pounds sterling than 1000 pounds avordupois.

I have never seen such a device that also contains the projector, but a
quite common setup is to use what is referred to as a "document camera"
or "visual presenter" hooked up to either a portable or ceiling mounted
projector. Most of the lecture halls in EECS at UC Berkeley are
configured with such a device. They work rather well, especially since
a regular pen can be seen, as apposed to the thick smearing transparency
markers I can never make out.

Several manufacturers make these:
elmo usa
epson
samsung
avermedia

Prices seem to be about $2000 - $3000 standard, or $700 for a 'toy' model.
