Hi All,

We have a Pioneer SD-P5183 projection TV in need of repair in the
Central Florida area. (Just south of Orlando.) After scanning this
group it appears that some folks are experienced with these Pioneer
units, and at least one person is even in the Central Florida area!
(But I don't know if he's available for repair work... Bill Jr?)

First, a little info on our set: The green gun's alignment is off, it
arcs up from the bottom several inches. When it first started, I
twiddled with the convergence (via the user menu only) and while
adjusting it went back to normal for a while. Then it would come and go
for a while. Now it's constant. And annoying.

We had one other repair done two years ago (before moving to CF). The
main symptom then was rough sine-wave lines along the bottom. The shop
managed to fix it, but they weren't experienced with this product line
and weren't able to calibrate it. I was able to get it looking pretty
good after that repair, but would like a real calibration at some
point...

So if anyone is in this area and available, or if anyone has a
recommendation for a good shop to use, please e-mail me!

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

Sounds as if you may have a convergence problem, may be as simple as just
resoldering connections on the affected pcb or may require replacement of
the output device and associated other components. First check the
convergence pcb for defective solder connections, especially at the stk
output device. Then check the rest of the pcb for resistors that may have
changed value, etc.
