i cannot get this sets red under control. i have adjusted the red
color bass ( after the toothpick trick) and still picture is way too
red. i have tried adjusting with avia, which worked good for my HD tv
in the family room. is there a physical control or adjustment that i
can change to get this red under control ?

Thanks,
Chris

Probably not. That is a very old RPTV (in RPTV years) set and odds are the
picture tubes are way out of balance due to age. There is also a good
possibility of a failure causing the red overdriving problem. If it is
simply a case of worn out crt's that will no longer track properly, you are
out of luck unless you want to spend as much on it as a new standard
definition set to replace all three picture tubes.
