Pioneer CDX-FM1237S CD Changer

I have a Pioneer CDX-FM1237S car CD changer that has gone nuts. The
controller shows ERROR60 & 70 most of the time. Sometimes I can get it to
play and change CD's after much buttong pushing but most of the time it
does nothing. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

I have seen lots of CD changers - just the physical changer unit, without
controls - for sale cheap on ebay. Does anyone know which models would
work with the controller already installed for the 1237? I know the 637
six disk units would work but I've never seen those on ebay - yet.

Thanks in advance,

Ed Nunez

1.
Check all micro-switches - there are two critical on small PCB in mechanics.
Use ohm-meter with acoustic indication - sound must be clear, not chirpy.

I changed lots of them in such Pioneer changers.

2.
Check that flat cable which travels with lift, doesn't make short circuit to
ground because of wear ant tear.

3.
Also check for cold junctions on main connector

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check those out this weekend. The
large flatcable is fine, I checked it out when I had it apart for
cleaning and re-lubricating.

Replace the two small switches on the small PCB on top of the cd mechanism.
Part #CSN1033.

Those switches are $6.20 each from Pioneer and I guess I need two since
there are two on that board. Is there a cheaper alternative? DigiKey
has two which look similar:

EG2525CT-ND
EG2622CT-ND

Would I be able to use one of those?

Thanks for all your help,

Sorry Ed, I've never used anything but Pioneer originals so I can't tell you
about others.

No problem. One of my co-workers had a sample kit with different
microswitches and I found two very similar to the ones on the cd-changer.
Took me a little bit of time patiently removing the old ones - one was bad -
and putting in the new ones. Works like a charm now!

Thanks for the help. I was starting to think this unit was hopeless.
