Hi,
I let the smoke out of an IC on an induction motor speed control board.
The IC is discontinued and is an SGS manufacture. Its a zero crossing triac
driver. I am unable to find the pinouts or a schematic for it despite
having googled all over the place. Can anyone help with this? If you email
me please remove one of the three 'l's in the email address.
thanks,
Mike

I googled in the UK and found this one for Ł29...

Thanks Pete. 29quid is a bit steep for an ic that cost about 2 quid when
in common use. Alternatives do exist such as the OM5428 at I believe
modest cost but from examination of the damaged pc board pinouts seem to be
different. I'd like to modify the board for an om5428 (or another similar
ic) but I cannot fathom all the pinouts from examination of the board -
hence the desire for a schematic or datasheet for the L120AB. But thanks
anyway.
Mike
We used to use them, 'might' have one or two around, I'll have to look.

Pin 1 is Input
Pin 2 is Current ref
Pin 3 is 0V
Pin 4 is Volt Ref
Pin 5 is Output

We have the SGS-Thomson 1992 App's guide with the circuits etc.

Ignore that, wrong IC!!

Still checking...

What is different to the basic L120 ?

Have got that data sheet, 16-pin scr/triac driver/controller?

There may well be no difference - at least in pinouts. it sounds a very
similar device - 16 pin triac driver/controller with zero crossing
triggering capability. Possibly slightly different voltage/current ratings
etc? If you have a data sheet for the L120 I'd be glad to have a look at
that. The only pin I'm reasonably certain of is the trigger output, pin 7
on the l120ab.
