Hi, ant. The cheapest and easiest way to do it might be to burn some white
noise onto a CD, and then put your sound level meter next to a known accurate
one in front of your speakers. The least expensive ones (like the one at Radio
Shack in the States) should be sufficient to bounce a home brew sound level
meter.

Digital-Display Sound-Level Meter Cat # 33-2055 $49.99 USD

Before you get there, though, you might want to take a look at the frequency
response of your microphone element (the manufacturer usually publishes this).
That's usually the main cause of inaccuracies in home brew sound level meters.

Questions of this type usually get a more enthusiastic response on s.e.b.

Good luck
Chris

The cheapest way to calibrate would be to borrow/rent a
calibrated phonometer and get the two to register the
same value.

Got an anechoic chamber?
