Has Philips had a run of bad CRT'S?
I have a 2001 27" which when turned on exibits retrace lines on a
bright raster for aboutd 10 - 15 second and then turns off.
Model TS2779 C221
Chassis 27K8007591
CRT A68AJB82X
Sounds like the trouble Zenith was having a few years back with
their CRT'S
Don't have the service info. on this but it seems like the 'safety
circuit' is shuting this down due to a G2 short.
Any info on this fault will be appreciated.

Open resistor on CRT board. Check there, it should be easy to find. If not
that then the driver IC on same board is bad. common failure.

Before thinking it is the CRT, check that the HV module is functioning
properly, the tube bias circuits are working properly, and the G2
voltage is in specs.

Check the 1/8 watt 10 ohm resistors on the CRT board (there's about 3-4
of them). Usually one will open & cause this symptom but change them all
to 1/2 watt so it doesn't happen again. I haven't run into any bad
Philips CRTs like the Zenith's were
