Does anyone know where I can get this part in the UK? It is the actual
internal contact part that I require not the button. thanks, jim

Look up Phillips in your phone directory. Call them, and ask them to give
you the phone number or connect you to their parts department. Make sure
you have the model number, and serial number of the set on hand. If there is
a chassis number, have this handy as well.

Tell them the description of the part since you do not have a part number.
What you want is the switch itself.

They may be able to sell you the part directly, or they may have an
agreement with a local parts distributor or service centre. If the part is
not in stock and is not a common item for them, they may ask for a deposit
in advance for the part. Most of the time with these companies, you can give
them your credit card information over the phone to make a deposit, or pay
the part in advance. If so, since it is a small part, you can even ask them
to mail it to you. There is usually a cost for the mailing, or any kind of
shipping.

Also, if you are not experienced and trained to perform TV servicing, and
have the proper tools, it would be strongly recommended for you to give the
set out to a recognized service centre to have the work done. There are
many safety issues concerning TV servicing. The power levels in the TV set
can be lethal, especially from the power supply, and high voltage sections.
Just because the TV is unplugged from the AC supply, it does not mean the
inside of the set is safe to work on.

Most of the time, in these sets, the switch is a simple membrane momentary
type device. They rarely go faulty. The fault may be some components that
the switch is working with, that operate back to a control circuit. Usually
the fault is more complex than the switch itself.

It would be worth the piece of mind, and the letting the TV service people
take the responsibility of servicing your set for you. If the switch is the
actual fault, the cost of changing a switch would not be very much including
the labour.

Have you tried CPC www.cpc.co.uk

They claim to have a partfinder service if they don't list the part
you're after, but in my experience they always fail to get it!

Hello, Jim

The switch fot this set is part# 4822 276 13592 and, indeed, we have to
replace this part on almost all of the sets on the market ;-)

The chassis in your set is a MD1.2E

Bye,
