Hi,
I got this old Philips matchline TV set from someone. It works fins for
about 5 minutes and then it switches off, that is: the power supply switches
off; the lights in the front of the TV start blinking asnd the rest is dead.
I opened it up hoping to find something in the high voltage section where I
suppose the fault is. There is this rectangular ceramic housed resistor
which becomes quite hot. When I keep it wet with a bit of spit, the TV keeps
functioning Unti lI run out of spit. Does someone maybe have a valuable
suggestion for what may be wrong based on thsi poor discriotion of the
problem ? (I'm hoping it's a quite common problem, that's why I dare take
the chance of asking). For the real professionals: the type number of the
set is 28ML8605/00B.
Thanks for any suggestion !
Fred.
