Philips 25" TV Bad Horiz Sync when cold

Hi Everyone,

I've got a Philips 25TS52 C303 TV (chassis 25X605-00BB) that my
brother gave me. When you first turn the TV on and the tube warms up,
you get a picture, but the horizontal sync isn't quite right as the
picture is badly torn (kind of like the Horizontal Hold on the old TV
sets was turned to an extreme).

After the set warms up (say 10-15 minutes), you can see the horizontal
trying to lock on -- the tearing gets less and less until finally the
picture holds perfectly.

I've spot sprayed almost everything I can reach with cold spray, but
the picture holds! Turn the set off for one minute and then back on,
and the teaing is back, but for a shorter period of time this time.

The picture is a little red, but that's another story...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Frank:
Near the center of the board, near the heat sink is a 100uf @ 200V
electrolytic, C442 or something similar...... I am not at my shop so my
memory is a little foggy..... replace it and your horizontal lock problem
should be solved.
