Probably the one of most use to somebody who doesn't know what they
need would be the IPC-2220 series. You can get them at
http://www.ipc.org, be prepared to pay.

What about IPC-SM-782?

IPC-SM-782 is only a Surface Mount Design and Land Pattern Standard which
states RLP's (Recommended Land Patterns). There are many IPC documents that
relate to good PCB Design Practice.
