I currently have a C700A etower by E-Machines. It has a 700MHz
processor and I am looking to upgrade it to a 2GHz one, will the
motherboard in this machine cope with this sort of change??

Unlikely that it would take that much of a jump on an inexpensive machine.
Take a look at the motherboard book - it should tell you in there. If no
book, try internet searching for that motherboard and chip set.

Even if you do the results will be insignificant. Get more memory instead.
