What's involved in using my PC as an oscilloscope?
I know there are products consisting of an external unit which connect via
USB (or serial or parallel or even ISA/PCI bus), and also cost an arm and a
leg, that are beyond my means at the moment, but I think there are
applications that can leverage the signal processing abilities of a
soundcard's DSP chip to process a signal, somehow (this is where my
knowledge falls short).
My question is: will I absolutely have to buy one of these expensive
external/internal units or might I be able to just load some software and
then jury-rig some input leads into the "Mic-In", or "Line-In" socket on my
PC sound card in order to use my PC as an oscilloscope?
