I want to build an automatic disconnect for a set of external batteries
I have on a UPS so I can charge them faster than what the built-in
charger on the UPS will do. However, I am having trouble finding parts.
The batteries take an 8mm bolt, and I want to stay consistent with the
batteries. The existing system is 1/0 and 2/0 cable so we're talking 150
amps.
In an enclosure, I want to have two binding posts, screw terminals, or
whatever they are called. The outside should accept an 8mm bolt for use
with a ring terminal. I plan on using 1/0 cable inside the box, so
connection by ring terminals is an option, although the largest bolt
hole I've seen is 1/2 inch. The bolt terminals should of course be
insluated from the enclosure. It's a 48 volt system.
I thought of using shoulder washers and a post or insert threaded for an
8mm bolt, also threaded on the outside, but haven't found that either.
Also, I need a 150 amp relay, 12 volts DC would be my preference.
The places I have seen on the web that almost get to what I am looking
for are marine/boating sites, with a few PV hits as well, but I have
still found nothing suitable.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Linus
