I found this old part in a controller of this elevator modernization I
am doing, and I am wondering what it is. Google searches have let me
down...

I think it is a voltage regulator... it is in a TO3 case and has the
markings:

nae 8240
NSR8140A

It has 3 leads (one being the case itself). Any ideas?

-Thanks

I did a search on www.dogpile.com and came up with it as a fast recovery 30
amp 100 V rectifier:
