Greetings group.

I have a Panasonic TX80P300A, chassis EURO7 on the bench with random
loss of sound.

There is sound from the L and R monitor out sockets.
And from the SUB headphone socket, but not the MAIN headphone socket.

I hope to have a schematic soon.

The cause does not seem to be a dry joint.

Can anyone assist to point me to a known cause for this problem?

Thanks,
Russell Griffiths.

The MAIN headphone socket may be damaged?

At the moment, I will consider it a possibility.
I will look into that.

When I first turned the ctv on, there was no sound from the speakers,
several minutes later the sound worked. Then, several minutes later the
sound stopped again.
Thanks,
Russell.

Have a similar problem to you, but its on a Sony walkman. They fixed it by
replacing the headphone socket, but it doesnt last long, they found out the
copper track on pcb is "comming out"

Might be a dry joint too.

Get hold of Silicon Chip Feb 2005 and read Servicemans's Log starting
p.50 at the para heading "Oh dear, how sad, never mind". This
particular set is described with similar symptoms and it seems that it
is a common problem.

Thanks Ross.
I must be getting forgetful. I only read the "serviceman" (S.C. 02/05)
a few weeks ago. I have just reread the story and it does sound
similar.
I will try removing and resoldering the chip.

Bye,
Russell.

Removing the IC may prove difficult but what have you got to lose. At
worst you can replace the IC as the serviceman found it necessary to
do.

Good news everone.
Removing and resoldering IC2510 in the module fixed the problem.
Thankyou to Ross who unfortunately has deleted his very useful posting
which
pointed me to S.C. mag (02/05).

And of course, thankyou to the S.C. Serviceman.

Bye,
Russell Griffiths.
