Are the factory settings for these sets just really screwed or what?
In the past two weeks I've gone through four of them due to various
defects in the picture quality. I'm not being overly anal or
anything, but when you buy something brand new, the picture should be
better than what these have been giving me. First one didn't stay
powered on (turn on and then it would immediately turn itself off),
second one worked great except for abnormal noise in the component
inputs, third one was pretty good but picture was noticeably
off-center, and this fourth one, while being near perfect, has the
picture bend up slightly in both bottom corners which is very
distracting when long horizontal lines are on the screen. I tried the
service mode menu finally on this latest one, but it sadly doesn't
have any geometry controls beyond H-POS, VEAMP, V-C, V-S, and VPOS. I
really really want to have this model work for me and would like to
know if I'm just having extremely bad luck (even though I've been
exchanging and different store locations and have been getting sets
with different build dates) or if Panasonic sets just suck right out
of the factory. I'm beginning to think that Circuit City cringes
every time they see me. I'm half tempted to return it and get a
Toshiba 20AF43 instead, but I didn't really care for the Toshiba's
styling and the sound is less powerful on it.
