Panasonic Cordless Phone KX-TGA270 - Battery Issue

I have 3 Panasonic cordless phones. It's one with a base & two
satellite phones. All three of them cannot keep a charge in the phone
for longer than 30 minutes of talk. I have only had the phones for
maybe 4 months and the problem has always been around. Does anyone
know if this is a known issue or an easy way to fix this? Are there
better replacement batteries than the Ni-Cd (N4HKGMA00001) that they
come with?

I appreciate any assistance.

It is possible that the batteries are bad. I know that it is unusual for a
number of them at the same time, especially if they are new. But, anything
is possible.

Many of the 2.4 GHz cordless phones have a problem with the batteries. They
usually are only good for about 24 hours off the base, and about 1 to 2
hours of talk time, and then the batteries have to be charged again. The 900
mHz phones last a lot longer between charges.

I had the same problem. You need to replace the batteries with some
NIMH batteries. I used the Energizer ER-P511 that I found at
www.batteries.com and the charging problem has completely gone away.
It's amazing that panasonic would ship such I high quality phone with
such a poor battery. If you check the consumer reviews of the phone
at www.amazon.com you will see that there are tons of people that have
had battery issues with these phones.

I bought a panisonic cordless phone about a year ago and i have had
the same battery issues. i just recently purchased a energiser version
of the same battery, p-p511, and I hope I have beter luck. I'll post
here in a about a week to let youn all know whats up.

Cordless phone chargers are often the slow dumb type. NiCad "shake and bake"
overcharge on these chargers. NiMh does not overcharge when charged at a
constantly slow rate.
