Panasonic AG-7330 capstan motor problem

Hello,

I have a second hand Panasonic AG-7330 which seems OK, excepting that
the capstan does not turn when in play mode. Turning the pinch roller
manually brings some distorted images on the screen. After about 10
seconds it reports E-5 (reel lock trouble) and dies. All other
functions are OK. It seems to me that there is a problem with the
capstan motor or its control logic.

I appreciate any troubleshooting ideas/suggestions.

I would not be able to tell you specific components, but this can be a
defective capstan motor, power supply not feeding the drive circuits for the
capstan motor, failure of the servo amplifier, or a failure in the logic
control for it. This all has to be diagnosed to determine the failure.
