Pana 76cm versus Pana 86cm

A few people have told me that in their opinion 76cm is too small for widescreen
if your used to a 68cm 4:3 tv (which is what I'm upgrading from).

So I've been looking at the 86cm Panasonic TX-86PW200A:

and comparing it to the 76cm Panasonic TX-76PW200A:

I know that nobody pays RRP but still, have a look at the huge price difference!

Can somebody who has looked closely at both models tell me if there is any other
difference between the two apart from the bigger tube of the TX-86PW200A ?

 

Ok, these are "differences" I've found so far, but I'm not sure if they are real
differences or just the way they are worded on their PDF brochure.

86cm has "Giga Progressive Scan" - 76cm has "Progressive Scan".

86cm has "Invar Shadow Mask" - 76cm makes no mention.

86cm has "Multiwindow" - 76cm has "Picture in picture"

86cm weighs in at a whopping 80kg ! - compared to a petite 66kg for the 76cm.

Does one display HDTV and not the other?

When shopping for TVs a couple of years ago, it was very hard to find
a 76cm widescreen which did HDTV. Most, if not all of the 86 & 92cm
sets did.

I wouldn't really want anything bigger than 76cm in CRT, they are just
too darn big and heavy. Not worth paying the premium for 86cm IMHO,
when 76cm are now so cheap.
If you want big, then go the whole way and go for Rear Projection or
Plasma. RP's are very cheap now, in line with CRT prices, but of
course have that "washed out" look and other problems. There are also
a few no-name plasmas around fairly cheaply too, and pricing is
getting competetive with both other technologies.
I got a new 76cm Thomson 6 months ago and it's great. But I think it's
the last CRT I'll ever buy...
