Since Mentor acquired PADS, they've been pushing hard for
PADS-Designer aka DX-Designer aka Viewlogic as the front end to PADS
PowerPCB.
But I think the UI and appearance of Viewlogic-style schematics really
suck, and have preferred since v3.x to stick with PowerLogic as a
solid if unflashy schematic entry tool. Even OrCAD, Protel, Tango etc
makes nicer graphics than Viewlogic.
Has anybody anything good to say about PADS-Designer (the nom-du-jour
for Viewlogic)?? The local PADS sales rep is sleazing me around about
features vs. price, bundles vs. suites, and just doesn't get it that I
want PowerLogic without paying an arm & leg to get it. Also
PADS-Designer has many features that I know I'll never use, so why pay
for 'em?
I'm trying to get my current gig to move beyond CADSTAR, which I have
heard mostly complaints about in this NG. Comments?
