Hi!
I have a TECHNICS SA-AX610 power amplifier that when turned on, an 'OVERLOAD'
message appears on the screen and there's no action on any of the buttons nor
any audio output...Before I start troubleshooting it I would like to know if
any one has run into this same probelm before?..which will make the repair much
easier.
TIA
Alphie.

Probably shorted audio power output semiconductors.

Also, I wouldn't rule out power supply problems, such as a bad resistor,
transistor, zener diode, etc, or bad solder connections, particularly at the
output IC and voltage regulators.

Almost every time we have had this fault, it was the power output devices,
and their respective drivers. Also, many times the bias resistors, and other
components were damaged.

The main conditions that cause these power devices to fail are, shorting
speaker wires, defective drivers or crossover in a speaker box, turning the
amplifier up too loud causing distortion, and thus overheating the output
stage.

After servicing the amplifier, make sure that the speakers are still in good
condition. Many times, the speakers are damaged when this type of condition
occurs.
